Hello Monday

From Too Much on Our Plates to Cup Runneth Over is my manifesto for graduating my 200 hour yoga training, for working hard to prepare for motherhood and to share with you all that if I can do this, so can you.

I hope everyone is having a fabulous week!

Cookies before dinner and other pregnant thoughts

So I have some preggo thoughts and have to tell them to someone--life being open book & all that good stuff.

Revelation #1: As I waddled into the sixth month I began craving dessert in the middle of the day (usually fro-yo thankfully) and realized something cool: eating dessert before dinner is actually better because its the sugar and carbs that give us preggies the heartburn we love to hate. So when digesting them in daytime rather than evening and trying to lie down, your body has plenty of time to break them down. Yay to no heartburn at night!

Revelation #2: The power of salad. For some interesting reason, salad has been a super safe bet for a healthy meal without heartburn. It gives me energy too. Also...TMI alert, but I would've loved someone to tell me this: a salad a day will keep the Colace away. So will pear juice and prunes, which taste surprisingly good. Just don't overdo the juice as its sugary too.

Revelation #3: avocado and bananas are magical for relieving leg cramps. Arm yourself with 1/4 avocado in your salad, a banana in your cereal or fro-yo and even one before bed and you're good! Don't forget the vitamin D3 which is oft not given the credit it deserves--I'm up to 4000 a day mine was low and I feel so good while taking it. Leg cramps be damned. And if you have them @ night keep bio freeze by your bedside. Simply awesome.

Revelation #4: a gallon a day keeps dry mouth away. I am naturally thirsty when not pregnant, but holy crap was I in the desert before realizing that I needed to hydrate for two. I also had headaches and was irritable, but a gallon of water (64 whole ounces) a day is the magic dose.

Revelation #5: does this count as mommy blogging? Because I was not trying to do that! But I'm writing these down for all of you who are like me: often so overworked that we lose the regular contact we should keep with our girls who have been where we are at. Also I live relatively far from my family and many of my friends with kids. Workin on that part.

Fare thee well fellow bumps! And I hope your Mothers Day was peaceful.

50 Shades of Pseudonym?

So today I am grading and collecting final papers and I stop to peruse the news and I do my weekly search for new stuff that may be online and I come across this article that has "The Penis Poll" (which I wrote last year) in Related News On Huffington Post:

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/08/29/latex-louisville-sadomasochistic-sex-club-demolition_n_1840832.html

And I think--this is actually funny because the one thing of my own that I've not published, taught or publicized is erotic stories. Guess with the upcoming Mom-dom I better get that pseudonym going huh?

Happy MONDAY!

Letters from the dead, 1992 and all the good shit

SO I haven't been here much because I have not figured out how to clone myself yet--despite teaching NeVeR LeT ME Go this semester and hoping for some 20 something insight. No luck just yet. Anyway, this makes me so much less able to do the stuff I really crave--like being here... SIIGGHHH

That said, take a peep at this AND TICKLE THOSE TOMBSTONES just feeding thought, you dont have to really touch some creepy shit.

SO today I went to buy baby furniture, graded a shitload of pretty damn good essays from ENG 102 and ENG 101 (go brainy youngins!) and have posted another week's worth of online scholar ammo. That said, it's been reminsice time as I graded and planned listening to my faves from the 90s.

What? Can I share? you know it:

Tuesday... Day in our life

So I'm on my way to NYC and as I'm sitting in the train thinking about the upcoming weeks, months... You know the usual--I have to make some lists. First up, things I'm grateful for: yoga, the wonderful teachers and fellow students I'm blessed to spend time learning from. Cortisone because otherwise I wouldn't be walking on me left heel right now. Family! Especially this little dude I get to share my body with for four more months. Even though he wakes me up, kicks and punches me from the inside out, swims in my belly while I am learning how to be still, takes my food when I eat it and makes me need some more... Oh and makes me the thirstiest I've ever been, when I drink a gallon of water every day to begin with! It's funny, on New Years Day I sat with three pee sticks in front of me, all sporting two pink lines, and after calling little dude's dad, my first thought was hmm, am I gonna be a mommy blogger?
Irony fully struck when more than half of everyone I shared my happy news with asked the very same... Hmm. Time will tell. Having someone share my body is wild! I should add to the gratitude list that there are bathrooms on NJ Transit as well. There should definitely be a such thing as frequent pee-er miles... Or cash! Cash would be nice too. On that note, train flies through tunnel and I'm on my way to teach young writers. I hope everyone has a gorgeous day despite the clouds.
Much love!
